As you travel around Roleystone what do you see? Do you truly stop and look or do you just drive past all that Roleystone has to offer?
Are you always rushing to get home as quick as you can to cook dinner, get the children home after school or to their after school activity, get home to finish renovations, the cleaning, do the washing… all the things that do need to be done and are important, but that take us away from simply enjoying the best of where we live. Life becomes a rush, how often do you truly just stop and take it all in?
When was the last time you went down to the local park or down to the local dam to see how much water is in it or even visited the local orchard to purchase your fruit. The Orchards are such a short distance from where we all live, they have fabulous seasonal fruits. How many other people are as lucky as we are to get our fruit direct from the grower?
How often do we appreciate all the trees and bushland around us, our houses aren’t stacked on top of each other, we have space to have a yard, pets, pools and gardens. People in our urban areas are not as lucky and do not know what they are missing out on.
How lucky are we to have such a safe environment where children can actually walk to school and be safe, where neighbours keep an eye on each other, and where we are likely to actually know our neighbours and even the families down the street.
We should all appreciate our surroundings a lot more. We all need to stop, and take some time out from our busy schedule, we all need to look at the abundant nature around us and take in how lucky we are to have what we have.
Lastly we all need to listen. Listen to the birds singing, the quiet and peacefulness.
